I wanted to share a little of the character and environment development we’re using on Death Inc. to establish the meta-game; looking after the business of death. A good splodge of the game is about running your little death empire from a very humble beginning – the attic in your own cottage.
A standard way to do this would be to establish some fiction on the life of the character, his quirky habits as well as his likes and dislikes, and through a series of concepts, create a world that fleshes out these stories into a world that is fun, but believable. I’ve decided to take this a little more literally than usual, and instead I’m going to be building Grim’s cottage out of bits of wood, cloth, and quite possibly tears.
Here’s a sneaky peak at the first stage of the process – prototyping out of card from the previous sketches I’ve made. These will later be remade into proper wooden, painted objects, but committing to that at this early stage means that I’d be unlikely to correct errors.
